Biography
Carmen Mellado is Professor of German Philology at the University of Santiago de Compostela. She received her PhD in Modern Philology from the University of Salamanca. She was a Board member (2012-2016) and a member of the Advisory Council (2010-2012) of EUROPHRAS. She has been a member of the panel of experts of ANECA (Arts and Humanities Branch), of the evaluation program ACADEMIA and Expert Evaluator of ANEP since 2015.
Together with the FRASESPAL research group, which she has led since 2007, she has organised numerous seminars and international conferences, including EUROPHRAS 2019 Productive Patterns in Phraseology (Santiago de Compostela). As a guest speaker, she has participated in international conferences and courses at universities in Spain, such as Granada, Alicante, Alcalá, Murcia, Valencia, La Laguna, Pompeu Fabra, Salamanca, Sevilla, among others, as well as in German universities (Bielefeld, Regensburg, Munich, Dresden, Leipzig, Düsseldorf), Italian universities (Rome, Bari, Verona, Milan, Cagliari) and others in Austria, Poland, Greece, France, Slovakia, Slovenia, Egypt, Morocco, Peru and Brazil. During the academic year 2019-2020, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Regensburg, within the “Program for promoting internationalization of universities of the Free State of Bavaria”. In 2021, she was a guest consultant for the DWDS dictionary at the Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin.
As principal investigator of FRASESPAL, she has led four national projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Competitiveness on Contrastive Phraseology and Grammar of Constructions, the last two in cooperation with the Institut für Deutsche Sprache (Mannheim). Her research interests include Phraseology, Construction Grammar, Lexicography and Corpus Linguistics, on which she has published numerous works, such as the dictionary Idiomatik Deutsch-Spanisch (2013, Buske Verlag) and the monograph Productive Patterns in Phraseology and Construction Grammar (De Gruyter, 2022).
¡Para que luego digan que dónde están las construcciones fraseológicas! (Presentation in Spanish)
En esta conferencia presentamos la noción de “construcción fraseológica” en español de la mano de numerosos ejemplos extraídos del corpus esTenTen18 de Sketch Engine (Mellado Blanco 2022). El objetivo es defender el estatus propio de esta clase transversal de fraseologismos, caracterizados por su estructura semiesquemática y su potencial pragmático. El trabajo es llevado a cabo en el marco de la Gramática de Construcciones y pretende hacer visible la naturaleza dinámica de estas frecuentes unidades fraseológicas, situadas en un espacio intermedio del contínuum léxico-gramatical. Por medio del análisis basado en corpus mostraremos el grado de productividad y creatividad de algunas de estas construcciones, así como la metodología seguida para llegar a dichos resultados.
